Who we are
Podokai is operated by Charles Viard, an independent EU-based developer. Contact: hello@podokai.com.
What we collect
- Account data: your email address and an authentication password hash.
- Podcast data: the RSS feed URL you submit, plus the episode files, artwork, and metadata fetched from that feed.
- Payment data: handled entirely by Stripe. We only store a customer identifier and the payment intent ID, never your card number.
- Usage data: standard server logs (IP, user-agent, request path) and Google Analytics 4 events on the marketing site. GA4 IP anonymization is enabled.
Why we collect it
- To deliver the service you paid for (download your episodes, host the mirror feed, send transactional emails).
- To meet legal obligations (accounting records for payments).
- To measure aggregate usage on the marketing pages.
Where the data lives
- Application database: PostgreSQL on a dedicated EU server.
- Audio files & zip backups: Cloudflare R2 (EU region).
- Transactional emails: Resend.
- Payments: Stripe (their privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy).
- Analytics: Google Analytics 4.
How long we keep it
- One-shot backups: the zip and episode files stay available for 90 days after creation, then are deleted automatically.
- Continuous subscriptions: files stay as long as the subscription is active, plus a 30-day grace window after cancellation. After that, files and database records are purged.
- Payment records: retained for 7 years to meet French accounting law (anonymized from your user profile when you delete your account).
- Account data: deleted immediately when you delete your account, except where retention is required by law.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you're in the EU, you have the right to access, rectify, port, or erase your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise these rights, email hello@podokai.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
You can also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority (CNIL in France).
Cookies
We use a session cookie required to keep you logged in. Google Analytics sets analytics cookies on marketing pages. No third-party advertising cookies.
Changes
If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, email registered users.
